Warren Buffett, one of the world's wealthiest individuals, rejected a $41,000 loan request from his daughter, Susie Buffett, to renovate her kitchen.

According to Bloomberg, Buffett is among the richest people in the world with a net worth of $142 billion. Despite having donated billions of dollars to charities over the years, he does not show the same generosity when it comes to providing financial support to his own children. In the HBO documentary "Becoming Warren Buffett," his daughter, Susie Buffett, shared a memory that highlights her father's frugality.

As reported by Benzinga and detailed in an article published in The Globe and Mail in 2011, Susie had asked her father for a $41,000 loan to expand her kitchen after having a baby. Her father replied, "Go to the bank like everyone else."

'GO TO THE BANK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE'

In 2017, Susie revisited this kitchen story, noting that she was not asking for a handout but merely a loan, and that her father's response had surprised her. "I just wanted a loan, I didn't want him to give me the money for free," Susie said, adding that she still found her father's approach to be natural. Susie shared that she had thought, "Oh come on, can't you do this?"

However, this incident did not lead her to believe her father was stingy. Susie jokingly addressed her father's financial discipline, telling her mother that she might one day end up homeless. "One day I'll be on the cover of People magazine as homeless because my dad is super rich and we'll be wandering around," she said, humorously criticizing her father's strictness on the matter.
