US President Donald Trump claimed that he sent a letter to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and requested talks regarding its nuclear weapons program. Iran denied Trump's claim, noting that they have not established any contact with the US.

In a speech last month, Trump emphasized that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons and stated that he is in favor of a nuclear deal that would contribute to the development of the region. Trump avoided providing clear information regarding potential steps the US would take if the deal is not accepted. The US President added that "something very big will happen with Iran" and that "everyone will hear about it."

Emphasizing that this deal should be implemented as soon as possible, Trump said,

"When the deal is done, we should have a big celebration in the Middle East. God bless the region."

Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations denied Trump's words, stating, 'We have not received such a letter to date.' In its statement, Iran emphasized that no diplomatic negotiations are being conducted between the two countries under 'any heading.'

In a speech addressing Iranians shortly before Trump's statements, Khamenei claimed that the "US is an untrustworthy devil."

TRUMP'S LETTER CLAIM

Making statements in the Oval Office, Trump announced that he had written a letter to Khamenei and proposed in this letter that negotiations for a nuclear deal be initiated. According to Trump's claim, Iran had been developing a 'secret nuclear armament project' since the early 2000s.

Stating that Israel and the US could 'never allow' Iran to possess nuclear weapons, Trump expressed the following:

"I hope they talk, because it will be much better for Iran. I think they are also waiting for the letter. The other option will be that we have to take action. Because we cannot allow a new nuclear weapon."

Israel and the US have alleged that Iran is conducting uranium enrichment activities to develop nuclear weapons. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted in his statements that "the option of an attack on Iran is always on the table."

'YOU CANNOT DESTROY KNOWLEDGE BY BOMBING'

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that they would not start negotiations regarding the nuclear program as long as the US continues its maximum pressure policy. Evaluating the possibility of Israel and the US targeting Iran, Araghchi pointed out that his country's 'scientific initiatives' cannot be prevented by aggressive attitudes.

Reacting to Trump's statements and accusing the US and Israel of 'looking for an excuse to attack,' Araghchi stated:

"Iran's nuclear program cannot be eliminated by a military attack. This is a technology we have acquired, and you cannot destroy knowledge by bombing."

Iran's Permanent Mission to the UN also denied Trump's letter claims, officially announcing that they had not received such communication. Trump did not make a statement regarding Iran's denial of him.
