White House behind the scenes! Will the US withdraw from Syria?

US-based Foreign Policy magazine spoke to four sources who stated that the White House believes an "unnecessary" mission is being carried out in Syria. The sources indicated that internal discussions are actively taking place regarding how and when a potential withdrawal could be executed. 

According to the report in T24; the news states that the US has not yet made a definitive decision regarding a withdrawal from Syria.

The US has approximately 900 troops in Syria. Washington's cooperation in Syria with the SDF, which Ankara designates as a terrorist organization, has been one of the main topics on the Turkey-US agenda for years. Turkey wants the ties between its NATO ally and the SDF, which it describes as an extension of the PKK, to be severed. 

Foreign Policy assessed that although the radical Islamist terrorist organization ISIS has significantly weakened, it could regain strength if it finds the necessary space.

On January 16, ISIS attempted to facilitate the escape of terrorists by launching a missile attack on a prison under SDF control where 5,000 ISIS members are held. Approximately 10,000 ISIS members and 50,000 women and children associated with them are being held in 20 prisons in Syria. 

However, senior US administration sources speaking to Politico national security reporter Alex Ward stated that "the Biden administration is not considering a withdrawal from Syria."
