White House: Iran could attack Israel this week
U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby suggested that Iran could attack Israel this week, stating that this information has been shared with Israel.
Tensions between Iran and Israel continue. U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby suggested that Iran and its proxy groups could attack Israel this week, stating that this information has been shared with Israel.
Stating that it is difficult to predict the scale of an Iranian attack, Kirby emphasized that there is a need to be "prepared for a significant series of attacks."
Noting that the U.S. and its allies remain committed to ongoing diplomatic efforts, including negotiations on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip expected to be held on August 15 in Doha, the capital of Qatar, or Cairo, the capital of Egypt, Kirby stressed that progress must be made in the negotiations despite the unstable situation in the region.
Referring to Hamas's latest statement regarding the August 15 negotiations, Kirby said, "We believe everyone should be there on Thursday and see if we can get this done." Kirby stated that any developments this week could affect these talks, but that the U.S. remains determined in its search for a solution.
