White House: Iran should not respond to Israel's retaliation

White House Press Secretary Jean-Pierre evaluated the agenda regarding whether Iran will respond to Israel in the near future during her daily press briefing.

Regarding the possibility of an attack before Iran's presidential elections, Jean-Pierre stated, "Iran should not respond to Israel's retaliation; they should not do that. If they choose to respond, we will support Israel in defending itself, but Iran should not respond to Israel's retaliation."

Commenting on Israel's attacks on Lebanon, Jean-Pierre also said that they believe a diplomatic solution must be found along the Blue Line and that they are working toward that end.

2,792 PEOPLE KILLED IN ISRAELI ATTACKS

The Israeli army, which has been engaged in controlled clashes with Hezbollah since October 8, 2023, launched hundreds of airstrikes on September 23 against southern Lebanese cities as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions.

According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, a total of 2,792 people have been killed and 12,772 injured since October 8, 2023, including 104 children and 194 women.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in airstrikes carried out by the Israeli army on Beirut on September 27.

Hezbollah, for its part, is responding to Israel with rockets and missiles. No major damage has been reported in these attacks, which mostly target army bases on the Israeli side.

It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced in Lebanon due to Israeli bombardment.

While the wave of migration from the southern parts of the country toward the capital Beirut and the north continues, the Lebanese government announced that more than 518,000 of the displaced persons have migrated to Syria.
