White House National Security Communications Coordinator John Kirby stated that they are hopeful a six-week temporary ceasefire could be achieved in Gaza before the start of Ramadan.
White House National Security Communications Advisor Kirby evaluated the latest situation in Gaza and the potential ceasefire process during the daily press briefing.
Noting that Israel has agreed to a temporary ceasefire that could last for 6 weeks in exchange for the release of hostages, during which more humanitarian aid would be delivered to Gaza, Kirby said, "Israel has agreed to this framework, now it is up to Hamas to do the same."
"WE WANT TO SEE IT BEFORE RAMADAN BEGINS"
Regarding the timeline for a potential ceasefire agreement, Kirby stated, "We want to see this (agreement) done before Ramadan begins, we are hopeful about this, and that is our goal here."
