White House statement on talks with Iran
The White House stated that the talks held with Iran in Oman were "very positive and constructive."
A written statement was issued by the White House regarding the US-Iran talks.
The statement noted that US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, held talks today with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, hosted by Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi.
Stating that "the talks were very positive and constructive," the announcement reported that Witkoff conveyed to Araghchi President Trump's instruction to resolve "issues between the two countries through dialogue and diplomacy."
The statement noted that the issues between the two countries are complex, and emphasized that Witkoff pointed out that direct communication is a step that will yield beneficial results for both sides.
The statement noted that the parties will meet again on April 19.
