World Bank provides additional $760 million grant to Ukraine
The World Bank has decided to provide an additional $760 million grant to Ukraine to help it maintain critical government services.
In a statement from the World Bank, it was stated that the $760 million grant support will be provided to help Ukraine maintain critical government services at both the national and regional levels.
The statement noted that this grant is the sixth additional financing under the project, which continues to provide salary support for teachers, first responders, and emergency service personnel, as well as social assistance to internally displaced persons and the elderly.
The statement emphasized that the support mobilized by the World Bank to date has enabled the provision of essential services reaching more than 15 million Ukrainians, and noted that the project is supported by contributions from the Ukraine Relief, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform Trust Fund, as well as from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Finland, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
The statement reported that with today's grant, the World Bank Group has mobilized approximately $42 billion in emergency financing to support the people of Ukraine.
