World Health Organization: 'There are 8,000 patients in Gaza who need to be evacuated for treatment'

World Health Organization (WHO) Spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic stated that there are 8,000 patients in Gaza, which is under intense Israeli attacks, who need to be evacuated for treatment.

World Health Organization Spokesperson Jasarevic made assessments at the weekly press briefing of the UN Office at Geneva.

Emphasizing that hospitals in Gaza are under attack, Jasarevic said that they do not have access to Al-Shifa Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strip.

Jasarevic stated that aid missions to Al-Amal Hospital in the south of the Gaza Strip have also been obstructed.

Stating that health workers have been killed in Gaza and many hospitals are under siege, Jasarevic expressed that more than 400 attacks on health centers in Gaza have been recorded since October 7, 2023, and that over 600 people have been killed in these attacks.

Jasarevic stated, "There are 8,000 patients in Gaza who need to be evacuated for treatment. Unfortunately, only 2,000 patients have been evacuated from Gaza so far. There are 20,000 health workers in Gaza who want to do their jobs, but they cannot reach the hospitals. If you want to have a functioning health system, the first thing you need is security."
