Zelenskyy announces condition for ceasefire agreement
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, referring to the phone call held yesterday between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the Russia-Ukraine War, stated that they would not accept any bilateral agreement reached by Russia and the US without Ukraine's participation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant in the city of Netishyn, Ukraine, before attending the Munich Security Conference meeting to be held in Germany tomorrow.
Making statements to journalists after his inspections there, Zelenskyy touched upon the phone calls US President Donald Trump held yesterday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and subsequently with himself.
Stating that he had a phone call with Trump lasting nearly an hour, Zelenskyy said, "The conversation lasted nearly an hour. (Donald Trump) conveyed Putin's desire for peace and his words regarding the need for the war to end."
Referring to the conversation regarding the Russia-Ukraine War during the phone call between Trump and Putin yesterday, Zelenskyy stated that they would not accept any bilateral agreement reached by Russia and the US without Ukraine's participation, saying, "I am expressing this very clearly to our partners. We will not accept any bilateral agreements regarding Ukraine." He argued that Putin is trying to resolve the Russia-Ukraine War directly with the US without the Ukrainian side.
Stating that European Union countries should also be represented at the table in negotiations regarding the war, Zelenskyy said, "I believe that Europeans should also be at the negotiating table. Because we are a part of Europe and we will be a member of the European Union."
Reminding that Europeans have provided them with great support during Russia's attack on Ukrainian territory, Zelenskyy said, "Ukraine and Europe have contributed 80 percent of the cost of the war, and the US has contributed 20 percent."
