Zelenskyy signs 'tightened mobilization' bill

The website of the Ukrainian Parliament stated that Zelenskyy has signed the new mobilization law aimed at improving certain issues related to mobilization, military registration, and military service.

The law will enter into force 1 month after its official publication.

The Ukrainian Parliament had passed the bill tightening military mobilization requirements on April 11.

TIGHTENED MOBILIZATION LAW

According to the law, men between the ages of 18 and 60 will be required to carry a military registration document at all times during mobilization and must present it upon the request of a military enlistment office representative or a police officer.

Men will also be required to show their military registration document if requested by a border guard at a border crossing point or in a border area.

Furthermore, those who are abroad and do not have a military registration document will not be able to obtain a new passport.

Once the law is published, all persons liable for military service will be required to update their residential addresses, contact information, and military registration data within 60 days.

Persons aged 18-60 responsible for military service will only be able to receive consular services at Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions if they update their military registration information.
