8 cars that remain in the shadows on the second-hand market but stand out for their durability
Some models that have limited interest on the second-hand market in Turkey are considered among the long-lasting options when the right engine and transmission are chosen.

When buying a car in Turkey, the question "is there a market for it?" is often as decisive as the technical condition. While models like the Corolla, Civic, Focus, and Megane stand out with their large user base, some cars find a more limited pool of buyers.
However, slow turnover in the second-hand market does not mean a model is unreliable. A regular maintenance history, the right engine-transmission choice, and careful usage can make some overlooked models long-lasting options.
STANDOUT MODELS
- - Mitsubishi Lancer CY/CZ (2007-2017): The strong second-hand perception of rivals like the Corolla and Civic led the Lancer to remain more limited in Turkey. Its naturally aspirated gasoline and manual versions stand out in terms of durability due to their simple engine structure. For vehicles with CVT transmissions, the maintenance history must be examined carefully.
- - Mitsubishi Colt Z30 (2004-2012): Remaining in the shadow of strong rivals like the Clio, Corsa, Fiesta, and Polo, the Colt draws attention especially with its 1.3 naturally aspirated gasoline engine. For users with high expectations for trouble-free operation, manual transmission examples are seen as a safer choice.
- - Subaru Legacy BL/BP (2003-2009): The boxer engine and all-wheel-drive system made the Legacy a niche model in Turkey. Naturally aspirated gasoline versions can reach high mileages when they receive regular maintenance; oil levels and leak checks should not be neglected.
- - Mazda 6: Remaining in the shadow of the Passat in the D segment, the Mazda 6 could not become widespread due to its limited sales and service network. Especially the options with the 2.0 Skyactiv-G engine stand out for long-term use with their non-turbo, naturally aspirated structure and traditional automatic transmission combination.
- - Mazda CX-5 KE (2012-2017): In the SUV market where rivals like the Qashqai, Tiguan, and Sportage are more popular, the CX-5 remained more niche. The 2.0 Skyactiv-G naturally aspirated gasoline engine and torque-converter automatic transmission provide an advantage by being far from complex turbo and dual-clutch systems.
- - Suzuki S-Cross: Suzuki's limited market share in Turkey made it difficult for the S-Cross to reach large audiences. The 1.6 M16A naturally aspirated gasoline engine from the early years draws attention with its simple structure and robustness. Manual transmission versions are considered among the low-risk options.
- - Ford Fusion: Using the Fiesta platform, the Fusion did not receive as much interest as the Fiesta due to its high-bodied, unusual design. The 1.4 Duratec gasoline and manual version offers ease of maintenance thanks to its simple engine-transmission structure and mechanical parts shared with the Fiesta.
- - Toyota Verso: Coinciding with the period when the MPV class declined and SUVs rose, the Verso became one of the models that did not receive the attention it deserved in Turkey. The 1.6 Valvematic gasoline and manual version is a strong option for long-lasting use; it should be checked in the second-hand market that the Valvematic system is working properly.
The common point in these models is that the maintenance history is more decisive than popularity. It is important not to make a decision at the purchasing stage without examining the expert report, service records, transmission status, and chronic check points.
