With the approach of Eid al-Adha, there is increased activity in the second-hand vehicle market. VavaCars Commercial Group President Serdıl Gözelekli stated that there is a high volume of buying and selling transactions in the period leading up to the holiday.
Gözelekli said, "At the beginning of May, we observed an increase of around 7 percent compared to previous weeks."
The increase in the need for individual transportation with the start of the summer months, the intensification of holiday plans, and the tendency to avoid public transport are among the main reasons increasing the demand for second-hand vehicles. Interest in C-segment and hybrid vehicles, in particular, has risen during this period. While nominal increases in prices have been observed, these increases have remained limited against exchange rates and inflation.
Gözelekli noted that there is also a remarkable rise in the sales speed of hybrid vehicles. He stated that a 3.8 percent increase in prices was recorded in the first four months of the year, and that this rate remained more limited compared to exchange rates and inflation. In the first half of May, an increase of approximately 2 percent was observed in prices.
According to Gözelekli, the increase in new vehicle prices is directing consumers to the second-hand market, and users who live in or frequently travel to summer regions prefer to travel by personal vehicle instead of public transport.
