Automobile production increased in January, exports fell!

The Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) has shared production and export data for the first month of 2024. According to the data, while there was an increase in production in the automobile sector, there was a decline in exports.

As a result of a 3 percent decrease in production, total production in 2024 amounted to 108 thousand 483 units. In automobile production, there was a 5 percent decline, and the number of units fell to 67 thousand 59. With the inclusion of tractors, an increase of 112 thousand 737 units was observed in total production.

Production in the commercial vehicles category increased by 1 percent, while a 7 percent increase was seen in the heavy commercial vehicle group. When compared to the same period last year, it was determined that there was a 13 percent increase in the commercial vehicle market and a 1 percent increase in the heavy commercial vehicle market. There was a 15 percent increase in the light commercial vehicle market.

Compared to the January 2023 period, total automotive exports declined by 5 percent, and automobile exports declined by 13 percent. While the total export volume was 75 thousand 106 units, the number of automobile exports was recorded as 44 thousand 437. Furthermore, in January 2024, the market size increased by 54 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 82 thousand 416 units. Specifically for the automobile market, there was a 72 percent expansion, reaching 64 thousand 41 units.
