Car color preferences have changed

According to data compiled from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), 945 thousand 768 of the 2,3 million vehicles registered to traffic last year were automobiles.

Of these, 33,2 percent were determined to have an engine cylinder volume of 1300 cc and below, 23,4 percent 1401-1500 cc, 19,6 percent 1301-1400 cc, 10,5 percent 1501-1600 cc, 5,7 percent 1601-2000 cc, and 0,7 percent 2001 cc and above.

COLOR PREFERENCES HAVE CHANGED

The change in color preferences for registered automobiles has drawn attention. While 62,5 percent of automobiles registered to traffic in 2014, the year TÜİK began keeping records, were white, this rate fell to 26,8 percent last year. While 6 out of every 10 cars registered in 2014 were white, this figure dropped to 3 last year.

In 2014, it was observed that 366 thousand 414 of the automobiles registered to traffic were white, 98 thousand 319 were gray, 55 thousand 428 were black, and 28 thousand 429 were red.

In 2023, however, 342 thousand 175 gray automobiles were registered. This was followed by white with 253 thousand 851, blue with 116 thousand 412, black with 106 thousand 873, and red with 69 thousand 766. The least preferred car colors were brown with 4 thousand 660 and yellow with 5 thousand 245.
