Electric iX5 version of the new BMW X5 revealed through leaked images ahead of launch

Press images of the all-electric iX5 version of the fifth-generation BMW X5 have leaked ahead of its world premiere on June 30.

BMW's highly anticipated fifth-generation X5 model has made headlines with images that surfaced on the internet one day before its official unveiling. The shared snapshots provide significant clues about the design of the new BMW iX5, which is positioned as the all-electric member of the family.

The leaked press images show that the vehicle carries BMW's new-generation "Neue Klasse" design language into an SUV body. In the front section, slimmed-down kidney grilles, a horizontal light signature, and a layout where the main headlight cluster is positioned more discreetly stand out. It is understood that the daytime running lights, seen in a "tick" form on the iX3, are interpreted in an "X" shape on the iX5.

The leaked images show that a slim taillight cluster and strong SUV proportions stand out in the rear design of the new iX5.

In the side profile, the most striking change is the removal of classic door handles. Instead, small wing-like parts placed under the window line appear to have been used. This solution recalls the design approach previously seen on the limited-production Speedtop model.

It is seen that traditional door handles have been replaced by small wings under the window in the side profile.

THREE-SCREEN STRUCTURE IN THE INTERIOR

An architecture similar to the iX3 is followed in the cabin. In the leaked images, an unusually designed steering wheel, an instrument area positioned close to the windshield, and an angled central multimedia screen draw attention. One of the important differences that distinguishes the iX5 from the iX3 is the presence of a separate third screen on the passenger side.

The driver-focused screen layout in the cabin is accompanied by a third screen on the passenger side.

The "iX5 60 xDrive" emblem in the images has also increased expectations regarding the model's technical specifications. According to leaked information, the vehicle will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, 578 horsepower, and a large 141 kWh capacity battery pack.

Official technical data and equipment details regarding the new BMW X5 family will be clarified at the world premiere to be held on June 30, 2026. With the introduction, the positioning of the internal combustion, hybrid, and electric versions in the product range is also expected to be announced.
