The mandatory winter tire installation regulation, which began across Turkey on December 1, 2024, ended as of April 1, 2025. This requirement, determined by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, specifically covered commercial vehicles carrying cargo and passengers between cities. However, it was also a recommended practice for private vehicle owners for safe driving.
Winter tires are specially designed to offer optimum performance at temperatures below 7 degrees. However, in summer months, these tires carry risks such as excessive wear, increased braking distance, and weakened road grip. For this reason, the use of winter tires in hot weather is not recommended.
TIME FOR A CHANGE AS OF TODAY
Since the winter tire mandate ended as of April 1, 2025, vehicle owners can now change their tires. Not delaying this transition is important for both vehicle performance and tire lifespan.

Tire replacement fees vary according to rim size. As of 2025, the average replacement fees are as follows:
13-14 inch rims: 800 TL
15-16 inch rims: 1000 TL
17 inch rims: 1250 TL
18 inch rims: 1500 TL
19 inch rims: 1700 TL
20-21 inch rims: 2000 TL
