The new sedan model MG 07, operating under the SAIC Motor umbrella, has made a remarkable sales debut in the Chinese market. The model surpassed the 10,000-order threshold within 1 minute and 57 seconds after the firm order screens were opened.

This result means the brand has surpassed the 39-minute and 37-second order record previously set by its highly popular MG4 model. It is stated that the MG 07 reached a total of 59,000 units during the pre-order period.

MG has increased its capacity in sales and logistics to ensure that the demand for the new model does not cause disruptions in delivery processes. It was reported that the company increased the number of authorized sales points from approximately 200 last year to 500, and brought the total number of sales points to 600 with the addition of pop-up stores. The sales consultant staff is also said to have been more than doubled.

The prominence of long-range versions in the order distribution also drew attention. While it was stated that top-tier packages offering a range of 800 kilometers and above account for more than 45 percent of current orders, it was noted that MG is preparing to commission two new battery production lines with its battery supplier, CATL.

  • - Fully electric versions offer range options of 610 km, 650 km, and 845 km according to the CLTC standard.
  • - The top version features a 91 kWh capacity CATL battery, an 800V high-voltage architecture, and 5C ultra-fast charging support.
  • - The plug-in hybrid option targets a range of 245 km on battery power alone, and a total range of 1,745 km with the gasoline-electric combination.
  • - The launch-specific price range varies between 105,900 yuan and 156,900 yuan.

According to the delivery schedule, the 650 km range versions will begin reaching users in the final days of August. The flagship version with an 845 km range is planned to be delivered as of October.

The MG 07 is positioned in the competitive sedan market in China, which includes models such as the BYD Seal 07 DM-i and the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P. The brand aims to increase its share in the segment with aggressive pricing and high-range options.
