New system will also cover vehicle listings in 2024

The Ministry of Trade had brought a breath of fresh air to the real estate market with the Electronic Listing Verification System for housing. With this system, where listings are placed via e-Government, citizens can authorize their relatives and also reach agreements with multiple real estate agents.

Having taken such a step to protect citizens from exorbitant prices and scammers, the Ministry is now preparing to take the same step for automotive sales.

At the Automotive and Energy Vision in the Century of Turkey meeting organized by MÜSİAD at the Selçuklu Congress Center, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan announced that they are working on a new system for automotive sales.

Emphasizing that they have introduced the obligation of identity and authorization verification for listing platforms, Gürcan stated that listings are placed by companies that have an authorization certificate. Stating that it is currently continuing as a hybrid, Gürcan said, "People who will place a housing listing will select their property via e-Government without entering the e-listing site, and by entering the information numbers of the real estate agent they will authorize into the window that opens there, they will grant them authorization. We are starting this same system for automobiles as well. We have a study regarding placing a listing for the vehicle you own by entering through e-Government. That is also about to be finished, it will come into effect in the coming months."

GREW BY 5.1 PERCENT

Making statements regarding the development of the automotive sector, Gürcan expressed that fair and competition-oriented efforts continue in the sector.

Underlining that there was a stagnation in the automotive sector with the pandemic, Gürcan said, "Unfortunately, Turkey has also received its share of this. However, despite everything, despite the stagnation in global trade, our economy has continued to move forward with rapid steps towards producing, creating employment, and increasing exports. When we look at it, Turkey has maintained its uninterrupted growth for the last 16 quarters. It achieved a growth of 5.1 percent in the past year of 2023," he said.

"A HISTORIC RECORD"

Reminding that the automotive main industry exports, which have a locomotive role in exports, reached 19.4 billion dollars in 2023, Gürcan said, "Our total exports, including the sub-industry, have exceeded 35 billion dollars. The automotive sector realized 26.9 billion dollars in exports with a 5.3 percent growth in the January-September 2024 period. This is a historic record."
