President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in a statement following the Cabinet meeting, announced that the Chinese car brand Chery is preparing for a major investment in Samsun. Following BYD, which previously announced a 1 billion dollar investment in Manisa, Erdoğan stated that Chery will also begin production in Turkey, saying, 'We will lay the foundation for this brand in a short time.'

The factory to be established in Samsun is planned to produce approximately 150 thousand vehicles per year. The investments are expected to stimulate the automotive sector in Turkey.

Chery has seen demand in the Turkish market, particularly with its models in the SUV segment. Models such as the Tiggo 8 Pro, Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo 4 Pro, and Omoda have drawn attention for their popularity among consumers.

With Chery starting production in Turkey, it is also expected that affordable price advantages will be offered for electric and hybrid vehicles. The exemption of brands that produce domestically from additional customs duties may contribute to a decrease in prices.
