Immediately following this statement, Musk announced when Tesla's robot taxis would be unveiled. It was reported that the Tesla Robotaxi launch will take place in August. Musk's late-night post, which included the phrase "Tesla Robotaxi unveil on 8/8," strengthened expectations that the launch will be held on August 8, 2024. Musk had previously stated that Tesla was working on an autonomous vehicle that does not have traditional controls such as a steering wheel.
