The announcement that Şile Deputy Mayor Sacit Terzi has resigned from the CHP has brought new claims regarding the political balance in the district to the agenda.
According to Sözcü, it is being discussed in political circles that Terzi may join the AKP in the coming weeks, and in that event, the administration of the Şile Municipality could pass to the AKP.
The process in Şile began with an operation conducted against the municipality in July 2025. Within the scope of the operation, 13 people, including Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı, were arrested, and Kabadayı was subsequently removed from office by the Ministry of Interior.
Following this development, in the deputy mayoral election held in the Şile Municipal Council, the CHP candidate Sacit Terzi was elected deputy mayor by defeating his AKP rival by a single vote.
Terzi announced his resignation from the CHP in a written statement yesterday. In his statement, Terzi, who noted that he had been involved in politics under the CHP umbrella for approximately 40 years, stated that he had dedicated his knowledge and labor to serving the public during this process.
Emphasizing that serving Şile was an honor for him, Terzi defined his perspective on politics as a field of "uniting rather than dividing, reconciliation rather than conflict, and producing works and services rather than generating polemics."
Arguing that the decision to resign was not taken due to personal resentment or expectations, Terzi described his decision as "a natural result of long evaluations, a conscientious accounting, and the responsibility to serve Şile more effectively."
Terzi explained his reason for leaving the CHP with the words: "Since I have reached the conclusion that I cannot provide beneficial services to the people of Şile under the CHP umbrella, I respectfully announce to the public that I have resigned from the Republican People's Party (CHP)."
