Criticism from IYI Party to CHP over 'free and independent' stance!

The IYI Party, which decided to enter the local elections 'free and independent' by fielding its own candidates in all 81 provinces, did not achieve the result it expected on the evening of March 31.

Receiving 3.77 percent of the vote, the IYI Party fell to the position of the sixth party across Turkey. Following the election, IYI Party Chair Meral Akşener, who decided to hold a party congress, announced that she would not be a candidate.

In the IYI Party, where election results are being discussed, an official leveled criticisms at the CHP.

According to the report in Gazete Duvar; the IYI Party official, who defended the party's 'free and independent' decision, claimed in their post-election assessment that the CHP was also at fault for this outcome.

Noting that a partial cooperation with the CHP in the local elections was possible but did not happen due to the CHP's attitude, the official explained what happened during that process as follows:

“It was important that the new chairman, Özgür Özel, met with our chair after the CHP congress. A door for cooperation could have been opened during this visit. However, while Özel asked whether the decision taken at the IYI Party GIK meeting to enter the elections alone in 81 provinces could be reconsidered, he did not make a concrete offer. If the CHP had come with an offer that day, it wouldn't have been like this. Ultimately, they say they expect a change of decision from us, but you want to know what you will gain when you change that decision. Since there was no such offer to examine, the decision did not change.”
