Expulsion storm begins in CHP: Mansur Yavaş intervened, Kılıçdaroğlu administration did not back down

Following the absolute nullity decision, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his administration, who were brought to the CHP leadership, have begun a purge movement within the party. After the expulsion of 9 deputies, disciplinary processes were initiated against members, including some provincial chairs.

It has been claimed that ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who has been calling for common sense and a party convention since the beginning of the process, has intervened. It was stated that Yavaş is of the opinion that the increasing purge steps in the party will pave the way for permanent fractures in the CHP, and for this reason, he warned that it would be more beneficial for the headquarters to follow a policy of common sense. According to the information obtained, Yavaş's initiatives were not carried out through direct one-on-one meetings, but through party organs and institutional channels.

However, these calls by Mansur Yavaş did not create the expected effect at the party headquarters. The party administration continued to keep disciplinary files on the agenda and did not back down from the roadmap they had determined. CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı announced to the public that some provincial chairs had been referred to the disciplinary board and that changes in duties and new appointments had been made in many provincial organizations.

It is being discussed in party lobbies that a new wave of tension could begin following these moves. While sources close to the nullity administration explain that the processes being carried out aim to “ensure discipline in the CHP,” the Özgür Özel camp interprets the recent practices as a “purge operation.”
