Journalist Sabahattin Önkibar, in statements made on his YouTube channel, strongly opposed the rumors that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek would resign in the autumn.

Stating that the claims in question are "baseless whispers," Önkibar said, "Şimşek cannot resign even if he wants to."

Önkibar noted that Mehmet Şimşek is an indispensable figure in the Turkish economy. Stating that Şimşek plays a critical role in the successful implementation of the policies followed in the economy, Önkibar said, "Şimşek is Turkey's economic anchor. If he were to leave, not only the current economic program but the entire Turkish economy would be shaken."

Önkibar pointed out that Şimşek's departure would jeopardize Turkey's economic stability. He argued that Şimşek's departure from the government would be met with shock by international markets and would increase Turkey's borrowing risk.

Furthermore, he suggested that a possible resignation could raise interest rates, increase the risk of hyperinflation, and accelerate the exit of foreign capital from Turkey.

Stating that Şimşek is the most solid name in the cabinet, Önkibar said that President Erdoğan would not let him go under any circumstances. "Tayyip Erdoğan will not want to lose Şimşek because Turkey's economic future is directly tied to him," he added.
