Former Interior Minister and AKP Istanbul MP Süleyman Soylu is said to have stated that he would reject any offer for a mayoral candidacy in the local elections.
"THE OPTION OF A NEW PARTY IS IN THE BACK OF HIS MIND"
According to the inside information shared by Kısa Dalga columnist Sedat Bozkurt, Soylu will not accept the offer if he is approached with a mayoral candidacy for the local elections.
Kısa Dalga columnist Bozkurt shared the following information regarding Soylu:
"Writing that Süleyman Soylu is 'uncomfortable' has no news value. What has news value is what he will do next. Like everyone else, I also assumed he was expecting a mayoral candidacy. But he has reportedly told his inner circle that he would not accept such an offer if it were made. Soylu is preparing to take a new position after the local elections. He will make a decision regarding his political future without diminishing his existing support among right-wing voters. Since the option of joining the MHP is technically difficult, the option of a new party is presumably in the back of his mind."
YRP'S POSITION
In his article, Bozkurt also claimed that the New Welfare Party's (YRP) announcement that "we will field candidates everywhere" has caused discomfort within the AKP, and that for this reason, Erdoğan summoned YRP Chairman Fatih Erbakan for a meeting.
