With only days left until the end of 2023, all eyes are locked on the minimum wage.

While the Cabinet Meeting has been canceled, it remains unclear when the new wage will be announced.

According to information obtained, it has been learned that an agreement has been reached to increase the net minimum wage, which is currently 11 thousand 402 TL, by 40 percent to 15 thousand 962 liras.

According to a report in the Ekonomi newspaper, among the rumors circulating is that President Erdoğan has intervened regarding the welfare share.

It is reported that Erdoğan requested an additional 1000 TL increase to the agreed-upon figure as a welfare share for the minimum wage.

Following this proposal, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has reportedly begun urgent work on budget adjustments, and it is stated that the ministry's response regarding the raise is being awaited.

Ekonomi newspaper Ankara News Manager Hüseyin Gökçe said regarding the minimum wage, “17 thousand liras is in the pocket. Employers have prepared themselves for this figure. In other words, they see 17 thousand liras as reasonable. Until a month ago, AK Party officials were also sharing their expectations of around 16,000 – 16,500 TL. However, public expectation has exceeded 17 thousand liras. So, it seems as if a social consensus has now formed above 17 thousand liras.”
