Striking People's Alliance claim regarding Oktay Vural ahead of the IYI Party convention!

The IYI Party, which decided to enter the local elections 'freely and independently,' did not achieve the results it expected on the evening of March 31.

IYI Party leader Meral Akşener announced that she would not be a candidate, calling for an extraordinary convention.

All eyes in the IYI Party are now turned to the convention on April 27.

With the chairmanship election approaching, IYI Party chairmanship candidate Mehmet Tolga Akalın made striking statements following the announcement that no spectators would be allowed at the convention, citing 'the physical conditions and capacity of the hall' as the reason.

Speaking to Barış Pehlivan from Cumhuriyet, Akalın said that the decision to hold the convention without spectators was not negotiated. Drawing attention to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Akalın said:

“The organizing committee does not have the right to make such a decision. Because participation is a constitutional right. However, if the congress begins and the chair of the council sees that it cannot be conducted safely, it may continue without spectators. But for a committee that derives its authority from no charter or law to engage in such matters is null and void.

Look, the IYI Party base has become very hopeful again. As far as I can see, they want to cut off this hope with a restricted congress. One needs to focus well on the committee chair. Erdoğan must take his hands off the IYI Party.”

STRIKING PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE CLAIM REGARDING OKTAY VURAL

Akalın did not provide a name regarding whom he was pointing to as the 'committee chair.' However, Pehlivan wrote that some party sources speaking to him drew attention to IYI Party Head of Political Affairs Oktay Vural. According to these sources, Vural is viewed as the 'representative of the People's Alliance within the IYI Party.'
