Following the 2023 Presidential Elections and the March 31 Local Elections, there has been a noticeable increase in media investments. While newspapers, TV channels, and online news sites of various sizes are being established, many journalists are also changing their affiliations.

Most recently, the news that Metin Yılmaz, who resigned from Sözcü newspaper, and his team would head a new media group stirred the sector. Information circulating in the public domain included that the newspaper's building would be in Halkalı, that the leasing process for the three-story building had been completed, and that a TV channel would also be located in the same building.

It was revealed that the newspaper, which is understood to have been named 'Nefes', would primarily feature names who left Sözcü. It has been suggested that notable figures will also be featured as columnists at Nefes newspaper.

METİN YILMAZ AND HIS TEAM WILL BE INVOLVED

Metin Yılmaz, who served as the Editor-in-Chief of Sözcü newspaper for 17 years, left the newspaper as of October 1 and announced his departure with a farewell letter. Operations at the newly established newspaper will be entrusted to Metin Yılmaz and his team.

AYTUNÇ ERKİN IS ALSO MOVING

Aytunç Erkin, who has been a columnist at Sözcü for 11 years, announced two days ago that he was ending his columns at Sözcü, thanking his former editor-in-chief Metin Yılmaz and his team. Erkin is among the names who will be at Nefes newspaper in the new period, again working with Metin Yılmaz and his team.

ÜMİT ZİLELİ IS ALSO AMONG THOSE CHANGING ADDRESSES

Veteran journalist Ümit Zileli, who wrote for Korkusuz, another newspaper of the Sözcü Group, also stood out as one of the names who will be involved in this new media investment. Zileli will also be at Nefes newspaper with his columns.

It has been suggested that Odatv Legal Representative and Sözcü columnist Soner Yalçın will also resign on Monday and begin writing for Nefes newspaper.

MUSTAFA BALBAY CLAIM

It has been learned that Cumhuriyet newspaper columnist Mustafa Balbay will also be featured at Nefes newspaper with his columns. Balbay's name is among a group of journalists mentioned for the new newspaper's Ankara representation.

Balbay had previously resigned from the Cumhuriyet Newspaper Foundation Board of Directors and became the Group President of AZE Media, which is close to the government. AZE Media failed to gain traction, and Balbay announced that he had left his post. It has been learned that Balbay's past at AZE Media has caused debate over whether he can serve as the Ankara representative for the new newspaper.

On the other hand, it is claimed that offers will also be made to former Sözcü newspaper columnist Sinan Meydan, as well as veteran journalists Barış Terkoğlu, Barış Pehlivan, and Murat Ağırel.
