President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a surprise meeting with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş following his meeting with Bahçeli.
"HE HAS THE RIGHT TO CHANGE"
It is claimed that Kurtulmuş informed Erdoğan about the process regarding the reading of the court decision concerning Can Atalay in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly.
According to the behind-the-scenes report by Selda Güneysu from Cumhuriyet, CHP's Gülizar Biçer Karaca will preside over the session on January 16, when Parliament reopens, followed by DEM Party's Deputy Speaker of Parliament Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who will serve in the general assembly. It is stated that neither of these individuals will read the Atalay decision.
However, Kurtulmuş has the "right to change" the dates on which the deputy speakers preside over the session. It is also noted in political circles that Kurtulmuş may exercise this right, and that the sessions on those dates could be presided over by MHP's Deputy Speaker of Parliament Celal Adan and AKP's Deputy Speaker of Parliament Bekir Bozdağ.
