Will 'Communist Mayor' Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu run for office in the West? 'I know which district he will be a candidate for'

A striking claim has been made regarding Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, known as the 'communist mayor', who was elected mayor of Ovacık, Tunceli in the 2014 local elections and mayor of Tunceli in 2019.

Journalist Ferit Demir wrote that Maçoğlu will be nominated for a district in the West this time, rather than in Tunceli.

"HE WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE A CANDIDATE"

Journalist Ferit Demir wrote that Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, who was elected Mayor of Tunceli from the TKP as the candidate of the Federation of Socialist Assemblies (SMF), will be nominated as a district mayoral candidate in a province in the West in the elections to be held in 4 months.

Stating that "Maçoğlu will definitely not be a candidate in Tunceli," journalist Demir expressed that the SMF will not field a candidate in Tunceli in these elections and will set out with two strong candidates for Ovacık and Hozat.

Demir stated the following regarding the district where Maçoğlu will be a candidate:

"Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu will be a candidate in a district in the western provinces. I know which district he will be a candidate for. Maçoğlu is currently in a cycle of meetings and is focused on one or two districts. The district he will be a candidate for will become clear in a few days. It would not be right for me to announce the district right now. You will read here soon where Maçoğlu will be a candidate."

Ferit Demir also said that there are many prospective candidates in the CHP for Tunceli, and that while no candidate name has yet come to the fore in the HEDEP, the party plans to enter the elections with an ambitious name.
