The CHP Party Assembly (PM) will continue its work on candidates today.

The candidate for the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, which the party was expected to announce on January 26, will be determined following the meeting to be held today.

According to the report by Mustafa Bildircin from BirGün, the names of Tunç Soyer, Buğra Gökçe, and Cemil Tugay will be discussed at the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting to be held before the Party Assembly.

Satisfaction surveys for İzmir, polls conducted under the supervision of the organization, and field observations and reports from members of parliament were combined using a pool system. District candidates were decided through this method.

THE İZMİR DEBATE

The fact that the current mayor, Tunç Soyer, received good results in satisfaction surveys is causing confusion within the CHP. While the view that “Soyer should continue” is being voiced within the party, the number of those expressing support for the name Buğra Gökçe is also gradually increasing. The CHP management, which aims to create a balanced list for İzmir, is having difficulty making a decision due to debates over “imported candidates.” It is noted that one of the reasons for the late start of the MYK meeting held on January 26 was again the “İzmir debate” that took place in informal discussions.

In addition to Tunç Soyer and Buğra Gökçe, Cemil Tugay also has a chance for İzmir. Although the focus sometimes shifts to Efes Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu and former Bornova Municipality Mayor Olgun Atila, it is reported that there are three prominent names. According to information obtained from party sources, it is being considered to resolve the crisis by continuing with Soyer.
