YENİ Party's Court of Cassation calculations after Üsküdar

It is assessed that the process experienced in Üsküdar has created a new threshold for YENİ Party regarding the transition of mayors to the party. While party staff emphasize that the line adopted since the founding stage, which is stated as "We will not force anyone to join YENİ Party," continues, it is stated that different options are also being discussed against political pressures on municipalities.

In internal party evaluations, it is stated that they are acting sensitively due to the balances in municipal councils and the potential problems that mayors may face. Despite this, it is reported that after the Üsküdar example, scenarios regarding the possibility of some municipalities, especially the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, changing hands are coming to the agenda more frequently.

In this context, it is noted that those within the party who argue that the government is increasing its pressure on municipalities are making evaluations in the direction of "Let us call all mayors who want to join." However, party staff state that the official stance for now is an approach that does not force mayors and monitors the process carefully.

COURT OF CASSATION RULING SEEN AS DETERMINATIVE

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, it is stated that the real breaking point in party lobbies will be the decision the Court of Cassation will make regarding the CHP convention lawsuit. It is expressed that if a decision upholding the nullity emerges from the lawsuit, a "Come now" call to CHP mayors could come to the agenda.

Conversely, it is commented that if the nullity decision is overturned, the current controversial administration will be sidelined, and remaining in the CHP will cease to be a problem for the mayors. This scenario is evaluated as one that would relieve the municipalities.

YENİ Party staff reiterate the view that there will be no cooperation with the "nullity administration" in the CHP. It is stated that what happened in the Üsküdar election is therefore not seen as a form of cooperation, pointing to Özgür Özel's words: "We do not have a single centimeter of road to walk with the nullity administration."

It is reported that Özel also argues that a possible convention process would not move the administration to a legitimate ground under current conditions. For this reason, a careful balance is being attempted to be established within the party between protecting the municipalities and maintaining distance from the nullity debate.
