Academia and the business world come together in London
A special event bringing together representatives from academia and the business world took place in London, one of the key hubs of the global business community. Hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Kingdom, Osman Koray Ertaş, and attended by Özyeğin University Rector Prof. Dr. Barış Tan as part of the Özyeğin University Executive MBA Program, the meeting brought together business representatives from various sectors, academics, Executive MBA students, and alumni.

The event, held as part of the London study trip for participants of the Özyeğin University Executive MBA Program, brought academia and the business world together on an international platform. During the study trip, Executive MBA students not only received training at the London Business School but also engaged with the London business community and held meetings with various institutions. One of the key stops of the program was the meeting hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in London.
The event, hosted by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Kingdom, Osman Koray Ertaş, was attended by Özyeğin University Rector Prof. Dr. Barış Tan, Director of the Graduate School of Business Prof. Dr. Mahmut Bayazıt, Executive MBA Program Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Döğerlioğlu Demir, as well as Executive MBA students, alumni, academics, and business representatives. The event focused on developing interaction and collaborations between Özyeğin University and the academic and business communities in the UK.
In his speech at the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Kingdom, Osman Koray Ertaş, drew attention to the importance of networks formed by Turkish professionals living abroad. Stating that a strong Turkish diaspora has formed in London in recent years, Ertaş expressed that he values the close bond Özyeğin University has established with the business world. Ertaş said, “Özyeğin University makes a great contribution to our country. I believe that our young graduates from here will carry this flag even further.”
Özyeğin University Rector Prof. Dr. Barış Tan emphasized the importance of cooperation between the university, the business world, and various stakeholders in his speech. Stating that Özyeğin University is moving forward with the goal of being an entrepreneurial research university with high global impact, Tan said, “Global impact is not a goal that universities can achieve alone; it is possible through the common value produced together by the business world, the public sector, and civil society. We aim to create platforms where universities, the business world, public institutions, and NGOs can create value together.”
The London program, coordinated by the Director of the Özyeğin University Graduate School of Business, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Bayazıt, and Executive MBA Program Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Döğerlioğlu Demir, combined academic training, company visits, and an alumni gathering. The program contributed to the Executive MBA participants' ability to evaluate the dynamics of the international business world on-site, share experiences with professionals from different sectors, and develop new connections.
