China-based Kaishan Group, one of the world's leading compressor manufacturers, has added Turkey to its international investment map. The company held the opening ceremony for its new factory in the İzmir Free Zone (İZBAŞ) with an investment of approximately $20 million. The ceremony was attended by Kaishan Group Chairman Cao Kejian, İZBAŞ Chairman Eyüp Sevimli, and numerous guests.
In his speech at the ceremony, Kaishan Group Chairman Cao Kejian noted that they began their operations in Turkey 6 years ago and have worked on geothermal energy facilities in Çanakkale and Manisa during this period. Emphasizing their desire to contribute to the country by deepening their investments, Cao Kejian stated:
"The factory established in İZBAŞ is built on approximately 20 thousand square meters of land and has 13 thousand square meters of indoor space. The facility is capable of full-scale production, including the manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes of air compressor main units. In addition to being Kaishan Group's third factory abroad, this facility serves as a significant production hub for the North American and European markets. Once the factory reaches full capacity, it is targeted to generate an annual production value of approximately $50 million."
Sıla Güngötekin, the general manager of the newly opened facility, shared that the factory's production capacity will be entirely export-oriented and that all 120 people to be employed will be selected from Turkey's young population. Güngötekin added that the group is planning different investment projects for Turkey in the coming years.
Drawing attention to the value the investment brings to the region, İZBAŞ Chairman Eyüp Sevimli pointed out that Kaishan Group has created a new industrial ecosystem in İzmir. Noting that Kaishan, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary and operates in 18 countries worldwide, will export the compressors produced to many countries from Africa to America, Sevimli continued his words as follows:
"The fact that İZBAŞ is on the investment route of a globally strong and well-established group demonstrates how strategically our region is positioned in terms of international industrial investments. This important facility represents not only a production infrastructure but also the transfer of high technology, engineering capacity, and a sustainable production approach to our country."
