İskender Pala joins Türk Telekom board of directors

Türk Telekom has appointed İskender Pala to the independent board member position that became vacant following the passing of Yiğit Bulut.

Türk Telekom has announced its new appointment for the independent board of directors position to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

Prof. Dr. İskender Pala has been brought in to fill the position that became vacant following the passing of Chief Advisor to the President Yiğit Bulut on July 11. It was stated that the appointment was made in line with the proposal of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

In the company's statement, it was noted, "The Capital Markets Board (SPK) granted approval for the application regarding the appointment of the independent Board member with its letter dated 24.07.2025. The appointment in question will be submitted for approval at our Company's first upcoming General Assembly meeting."

THE CAREER OF İSKENDER PALA

Born in Uşak in 1958, İskender Pala graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Letters in 1979. He received his doctorate in Divan literature in 1983, became an associate professor in 1993, and a professor in 1998. He served in the Naval Forces Command between 1982 and 1996. He served as a member of the editorial board of İSAM between 1996 and 2024 and assumed the role of Head of the Culture Department at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2004.

Pala held various positions between 2004 and 2010, including Culture Consultant for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and served as a member of the City Theaters Repertoire Board and the State Theaters Literary Board between 2006 and 2012. Additionally, he served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Istanbul European Capital of Culture between 2008 and 2010 and as a faculty member at Uşak University between 2009 and 2012. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Atatürk Supreme Council of Culture, Language and History between 2013 and 2017, and as a chief advisor to the Prime Minister between 2015 and 2018. He served as an advisor to the Ministry of Culture between 2018 and 2019.

Pala, who has continued his faculty position at Istanbul Kültür University since 1997, has been serving as the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Culture and Arts Policies Board since 2018. Prof. Dr. İskender Pala is married and a father of three.
