ASELSAN has announced that it has signed new contracts with the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) for the procurement of hybrid air defense systems. According to the notification made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), the total value of the contracts was announced as 2 billion 460 million euros.

In the company's announcement, it was stated that, "Contracts with a total value of 2,460,000,000 Euros have been signed between ASELSAN and the Presidency of Defense Industries for the procurement of Hybrid Air Defense Systems."

The hybrid air defense architecture stands out as a layered structure that brings together barrel-based weapons and missile systems within the same defense concept. These systems are intended to be used in the protection of critical facilities and units against various threats such as unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles, and precision-guided munitions.

The structure in question is based on a defense configuration in which radar, electro-optical targeting, and fire control elements work together. Activating different interception tools according to the nature of the threat is important in terms of both effectiveness and efficiency in ammunition usage.

The scale of the contracts ASELSAN has announced in the field of air defense recently is also noteworthy. The company had previously announced an agreement exceeding 1 billion euros regarding the mass production of long-range air defense systems, as well as an international air defense export contract worth 488.5 million euros.

The new contract is considered to be one of the key components of the "Steel Dome" vision, which is being carried out within the scope of Turkey's goal of a layered air defense network. The integration of domestic radar, command and control networks, and interception systems is seen as critical in terms of reducing foreign dependency in air defense.
