Bimbo QSR, which operates under the Mexico-based Grupo Bimbo, has purchased land to establish two new factories in the Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone in the Kandıra district of Kocaeli.
It was stated that investments have gained momentum following the completion of long-standing infrastructure and legal processes in the Kandıra Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone. The primary production item at the new facilities is planned to be the hamburger buns used in McDonald’s restaurants.
Mehmet Başol, Chairman of the Board of the Kandıra Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, announced that the Mexican firm, which already has a facility in Istanbul, has purchased land within the industrial zone's borders. The groundbreaking for the two factories is targeted for the coming months.
According to the report in Özgür Kocaeli, it is anticipated that the buns produced at the facilities will not only be supplied to McDonald’s restaurants in Turkey but also exported to different countries. Thus, the investment in Kandıra is intended to provide products not only for the domestic market but also for the chain's operations abroad.
Founded in 1945, Grupo Bimbo is among the world's largest bakery groups. It is stated that the company has a presence in 96 countries, operates directly in 39 countries, and reaches 57 countries through strategic partnerships.
