According to sources familiar with the matter, Uber's attempt to acquire Getir Food is being viewed as part of Mubadala's strategy to divest from its investments in Turkey. This move also aligns with Uber Eats' goal of increasing its market share in Turkey.
The completion of the acquisition will be subject to review by the Turkish Competition Authority. Sources indicated that the sale price has not yet been finalized and that the deal may not be concluded. It was stated that the proposal has been submitted to the authorities for final approval.
Representatives for Uber and Mubadala declined to comment on this transaction and regulatory discussions. Getir directed questions regarding the matter to Mubadala. The Competition Authority has not yet made a statement.
Earlier this month, Bloomberg reported that Uber and Mubadala had begun preliminary talks for a potential deal. Last month, Mubadala sold the car rental business Getir Araç to the Turkey-based company Tiktak. Reuters reported in September that Mubadala was in advanced sale negotiations with Tiktak for Getir Araç. It is noted that Mubadala is reviewing its other investments in Turkey and is working on the sale of various units, including Getir Food.
