The Istanbul Excavation Contractors Federation gathered in front of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Kartal building at 09:30 today to hold a protest. The purpose of the action was stated as the lack of disposal sites in Istanbul, which forces excavation vehicles to travel to the Gebze district of Kocaeli to dump waste, a practice the IMM opposes.

Excavation contractors face route fines while attempting to send their vehicles to Kocaeli, arguing that existing disposal sites have insufficient capacity. Opposing this situation, members of the Istanbul Excavation Contractors Federation (İSHAF) gathered in front of the IMM building in Kartal to make their voices heard.

The protesters stated that the IMM must find a solution to the lack of disposal sites and that vehicles directed to the neighboring province of Kocaeli should not be penalized.

The protest serves as a call for a resolution to this growing problem for excavation contractors in Istanbul. The protests are expected to continue until steps are taken to increase the capacity of disposal sites.
