17th Metin Altıok Poetry Award goes to Şeref Bilsel

The 17th Metin Altıok Poetry Award, held in memory of Metin Altıok, has been awarded to Şeref Bilsel. Bilsel was deemed worthy of the award for his book 'Kâğıdın Ölümü' (The Death of Paper), published by Yitik Ülke Yayınları.

At the ceremony hosted by the historic Ses Theatre on İstiklal Avenue, Şeref Bilsel was announced as the winner of the 17th Metin Altıok Poetry Award for his book 'Kâğıdın Ölümü'.

The award ceremony, organized by Kırmızı Kedi Yayınevi with the support of the Beyoğlu Municipality, was hosted by Metin Altıok's daughter, Zeynep Altıok Akatlı. Bilsel received his award from former Minister of Culture Ercan Karakaş and poet and writer Şükrü Erbaş.

During the ceremony, poet Selahattin Yolgiden, who was unable to receive his award last year due to the earthquake, also received his award for his book 'Uyurken de Görebiliyorsun Geceyi' (You Can See the Night Even While Sleeping).

Yolgiden's award was presented by writer and poet Haydar Ergülen and Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney.

The Selection Committee that determined the winners consisted of Doğan Hızlan, Hilmi Yavuz, Eray Canberk, Şükrü Erbaş, Ali Cengizkan, Latife Tekin, and Haydar Ergülen.
