3rd International Women Playwrights Theatre Festival begins
The "3rd International Women Playwrights Theatre Festival," organized by the State Theatres, is meeting art lovers in Istanbul. Istanbul State Theatre Director Mehmet Fatih Dokgöz pointed out the importance of this festival, which features works by women playwrights among the State Theatres' international festivals, and said that important theatre troupes from abroad and Turkey will stage plays at the festival.
The festival, which will open with "Amazons" from Serbia, will feature many important theatre troupes from Turkey and abroad. In addition, the program, enriched with talks, seminars, and workshops, will offer theatre lovers an unforgettable experience.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The play "Amazons," written by Julia Sandor and Jasa Koceli, can be watched on February 7 at the AKM Theatre Hall. Daria Vulic, Milica Vranes, and Ljubica Radomirovic star in the play, which is directed by Koceli.
The play "And Then There Were None," with Akif Yeşilkaya in the director's chair, will be staged on February 8-9.
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres will stage the work "Yaftalı Tabut" (The Labeled Coffin) on February 10 at the AKM Theatre Hall.
The Spanish-Moroccan dance theatre project "Garden of Hesperides" will meet art lovers on February 11.
"9 to 5 The Musical" can be watched on February 12-13, "The Woman in Black" on February 14-15, and "Disappearance" on February 16 at the AKM Theatre Hall.
EXHIBITIONS AND CHILDREN'S PLAYS ARE ALSO INCLUDED
"The Pea of the Secret Garden" will meet little art lovers at the AKM Children's Art Center on February 8-10. "Gonzo the Sock" will be staged on February 11-13, and "Three Cats One Wish" on February 14-16.
The "A World on Stage" exhibition can be seen in the AKM Theatre Hall Foyer from February 7-16. The exhibition, whose project belongs to Hakan Dündar and Arzu Özdemir Mc Arthur, was curated by Behlüldane Tor. The production and implementation of the exhibition were carried out by the Istanbul State Theatre Art Technical team.
Theatre lovers will be able to watch selected stage performances by women writers from Serbia, Spain, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Russia, Germany, and Turkey at the Atatürk Cultural Center Theatre Hall, the Üsküdar Tekel Stage, and the Mecidiyeköy Stage.
In the festival, where children's plays will have two sessions at 10:00 and 13:00 on weekdays and 11:00 and 14:00 on weekends, plays at the Üsküdar Studio Stage will start at 18:00, and adult and youth plays will start at 20:00. Additionally, the "State Theatres Design Exhibition" in the AKM foyer and the "Costume Making from Waste Materials Workshop Exhibition" in the Mecidiyeköy foyer will also meet art lovers.
