Important Turkish cinema actor Hikmet Taşdemir has passed away at the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for some time.

He was etched into the memories of Turkish cinema with his roles as Gaddar Kerim in the film "Korkusuz Korkak", Mardinli Arif in "Umudumuz Şaban", and Cıbıl Halil in "Tatar Ramazan".

Taşdemir played a hitman character nicknamed 'Parmaksız' in Yılmaz Güney's film "Umutsuzlar". Most recently, he had appeared in the series Arka Sokaklar.

WHO IS HİKMET TAŞDEMİR?

Cinema and television actor Hikmet Taşdemir was born on February 2, 1942, in Erzurum. He worked with several theater troupes at a young age. He is one of the rare cinema artists who did not use a stage name despite being advised to do so.

He first stepped into cinema in 1971 with the film Baba. He played supporting roles in many films. His characters Gaddar Kerim in the film Korkusuz Korkak, starring Kemal Sunal, Mardinli Arif in Umudumuz Şaban, and Cıbıl Halil in Tatar Ramazan remained in the public memory.

Due to his stern demeanor, he played the roles of tough guys in numerous films. He had been living in Silivri with his wife for over 40 years.

Remembered for the "tough guy" characters he played in Yeşilçam, actor Hikmet Taşdemir said, "I love all the actors, starting with Yılmaz Güney, Türkan Şoray, Cüneyt Arkın, and Kartal Tibet. This job cannot be done without love."
