4 FILMS WILL HAVE THEIR TURKEY PREMIERES
The National Feature Film Competition, which will be presided over by director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, will feature 11 films. The Turkey premieres of 4 of these films will also take place within the scope of the festival. Cinema lovers are eagerly awaiting these films, which will meet the audience for the first time.
MOBILE CINEMA FOR THE EARTHQUAKE REGION
This year, the festival will hold film screenings with a mobile cinema not only in Adana but also in the provinces affected by the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. The festival management aims to bring the healing power of cinema and art to the earthquake region.
The Altın Koza Film Festival has ensured that the public meets with art by organizing open-air film screenings with mobile cinema in provinces affected by the earthquake, such as Malatya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Gaziantep, and Osmaniye. Additionally, film screenings will be held in all districts of Adana.
YOUNG FILMMAKERS FROM 51 COUNTRIES WILL PARTICIPATE
Altın Koza Board Deputy Chairman İsmail Timuçin stated that the festival is a very strong and effective organization in every aspect this year. Timuçin said, "We will meet with art lovers on Monday. Academics and students from radio, television, and cinema departments of universities from all over Turkey will participate. Furthermore, young filmmakers from 51 countries will also be included in the festival. This shows that cinema will grow even more in the future and that more individuals with academic training will become directors and producers. This is gratifying for the development of cinema."
ADANA STANDS OUT WITH CULTURE AND ART
Altın Koza General Manager and Festival Executive Board Member Hüseyin Orhan pointed out that Adana is a city identified with culture and art. Orhan said, "History, geography, socioeconomic structure, and cultural-artistic life are among the elements that determine a city's identity. However, culture and art stand out as dominant elements in Adana. The International Altın Koza Film Festival, which has been held since 1969, has become one of the most prestigious organizations of Turkish cinema."
THE HEALING POWER OF CINEMA IN THE EARTHQUAKE REGION
Hüseyin Orhan stated that they also organized events in the provinces affected by the earthquake within the scope of the festival: "We wanted to bring the healing power of cinema and art to our provinces that were heavily damaged by the February 6 earthquake. For this purpose, we held mobile cinema screenings in the earthquake regions. Altın Koza meets with the public not only in movie theaters in Adana but also in neighborhoods, villages, and districts."
In addition to film screenings, the festival will offer a full program to art lovers with talks, photography exhibitions, and various events.
