Aslı Özge's new film 'Faruk' returns from Morocco with awards

At the 29th Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival, where the jury was chaired by the renowned Palestinian director Elia Suleiman, Aslı Özge's new film 'Faruk' won the 'Best Actor' and 'Critics' Jury Best Film' awards.

In this film, which is inspired by real characters and events, Aslı Özge's 96-year-old father Faruk Özge, who plays the lead role, received the 'Best Actor' award for his performance, while the film was also deemed worthy of the best film award by the Critics' Jury.

The film 'Faruk', which also won the FIPRESCI award presented by the International Federation of Film Critics at its world premiere at the 74th Berlin Film Festival, also received great acclaim from audiences and film critics at its most recent screening at the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival.

Following in the footsteps of her successful debut film 'Köprüdekiler' (Men on the Bridge) with her fifth film 'Faruk', Özge presents a unique and intimate look at the life of an elderly man trying to survive in the crowds of Istanbul in her new film, which was shot in real locations and inspired by real characters and events, showcasing not only the effects of urban transformation but also the complexities of a father-daughter relationship.
