Basic Art Department at MSGSÜ to be closed: 'The structure of the faculty is being changed'

The MSGSÜ Senate, which met on May 22, proposed to close the Basic Art Education department, which teaches the principles and elements of art to all fine arts departments.
However, it is alleged that the matter was added to the senate agenda at the last minute without even seeking an opinion.
'IT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO OTHER DEPARTMENTS'
A faculty member, noting that the department was also closed in 1982, said the following regarding the decision passed by the senate without consulting the faculty components:
"They did not seek the opinions of faculty members by not bringing such a serious decision to the agenda of the faculty board. This department brings together different departments, that is, different disciplines. If the department is closed, the faculty members will be distributed to other departments.
The collective knowledge here will also be dispersed. It is not possible for students to receive the same quality of basic art education in their own departments. Because the Basic Education department brings together different disciplines"
