Ben Affleck's thriller film Animals to premiere on Netflix on October 9

Netflix has announced the release date for the Ben Affleck-helmed thriller Animals. The platform shared the official teaser trailer and first images from the production, which will meet audiences on October 9.

Ben Affleck serves as the director of the film. Affleck also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Connor O. McIntyre and Billy Ray. In addition to Affleck, the cast includes Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Gillian Anderson, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Adriana Paz, Ray Fisher, Christopher Woodley, Matt Gerald, and Jacob Estrada.

Animals follows a politician running for mayor of Los Angeles and his wife, who are drawn into a dangerous situation after their son is kidnapped. As the couple attempts to secure the ransom money, they find themselves caught in an ever-growing web of deception.

The crisis, which threatens both the family and the political career simultaneously, forces the characters to make irreversible decisions. According to the promotional text shared by Netflix, the story centers on the tension of a world pushed to the brink of collapse following a kidnapping case.
