Calling all science fiction fans: The 2nd Berkol Science Fiction Days are beginning
Organized by the Özgen Berkol Doğan Science Fiction Library, the 2nd Berkol Science Fiction Days begin on Friday, December 1. This year, the event will offer participants a rich program consisting of workshops, talks, and film screenings spread over a week.

Berkol Science Fiction Days will be held for the second time this year between December 1 and 7.
The event is organized by the Özgen Berkol Doğan Science Fiction Library, which is Turkey's first and only science fiction library.
The 2nd Berkol Science Fiction Days, which will be hosted by the Kadıköy Cinema, Barış Manço Cultural Center, and the library building itself, will feature numerous film screenings as well as panels, talks, and workshops.
'WE ARE KEEPING HIS MEMORY ALIVE'
Nazlı Bülay Doğan, one of the founders of the Özgen Berkol Doğan Science Fiction Library, stated that they are happy to see that they have come further than they expected and said:
“With the 2nd Berkol Science Fiction Days, we are preparing once again to bring together Turkey's culture producers in the field of science fiction, science fiction fans, and all those interested. The Özgen Berkol Doğan Science Fiction Library was established in 2012 to keep alive the memory of the young scientist Özgen Berkol Doğan, who passed away in 2007. Science Fiction Days provide a productive foundation for us to share the knowledge and activities we have accumulated in our library to date with the science fiction community."
THERE WILL BE WORKSHOPS, TALKS, AND FILM SCREENINGS
The 2nd Berkol Science Fiction Days will begin on Friday, December 1, with an opening talk titled “Recreating the Created: Translation in Science Fiction” to be held at the Özgen Berkol Doğan Science Fiction Library. Over the course of the following week, three workshops, five talks, and eight film screenings await participants.
Müfit Özdeş, Mehmet Açar, Alin Taşçıyan, Can Kantarcı, Devrim Kunter, Doğu Yücel, and Cem Kaya are among the names participating in the event.
In addition to talks titled “Together Even If We Separate: Science Fiction and Fantasy,” “Artificial Intelligence in Cinema,” “The Rise of Science Fiction in Literature,” “Representations of Women in Science Fiction Anime,” and “Science Fiction in Crime Fiction, Crime Fiction in Science Fiction,” talks with directors such as Fehmi Öztürk and Cem Kaya are among the highlights of the 2nd Berkol Science Fiction Days.
