DOB General Director Tan Sağtürk appointed Vice President of IFBC

According to a statement from the State Opera and Ballet (DOB), the general assembly of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions (IFBC), which operates under the presidency of Yuri Grigorovich, was held in Istanbul on June 14.

DOB General Director and General Artistic Director Tan Sağtürk was unanimously elected as the Vice President of the IFBC at the general assembly.

WHO IS TAN SAĞTÜRK?

Tan Sağtürk was born on July 14, 1969, in İzmir. He graduated from the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory's Department of Ballet in 1990.

Continuing his education in France, Tan Sağtürk worked at the French National Ballet between 1991 and 1997. Having served as a principal dancer for the French Young Ballet (Le Jeune Ballet De France) and the French National Ballet (Ballet National De France), Sağtürk later moved to Istanbul and served as a principal dancer at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. The artist, who founded ballet and dance schools in Diyarbakır, Mardin, Antep, Kayseri, Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, and Cyprus, also opened the Tan Sağtürk Ballet and Dance Education Center.

Sağtürk, who staged his work titled "Heart Sound Project" (Kalp Sesi Projesi) at the Antalya and İzmir State Opera and Ballet, also created the work titled "Soude" and "Je ne Regrette Rien" (Edith Piaf) for the French National Ballet.

Tan Sağtürk, who has also appeared in television series and commercials, was appointed as the General Director of the State Opera and Ballet on September 15, 2023.
