Events taking place at the Atatürk Cultural Center in April have been announced
A packed program awaits art lovers in March at the Atatürk Cultural Center, which opened in 2021. Numerous plays will be staged, most notably 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Centennial Epic: Fire', and 'This is a Legend: Sarah Bernhardt'.

The play 'Hayrola Karyola', written by master author Ferhan Şensoy and which once received great attention at Ortaoyuncular, is being prepared to be staged again after 22 years.
The play, directed by Metin Zakoğlu and starring him alongside Şebnem Köstem, will meet the audience at the AKM Multipurpose Hall on April 2 and 17. The play, which focuses on the funny adventures of a married couple and another couple about to get married, addresses current and economic issues.

'Winterreise' (Winter Journey), a 24-piece poetry series composed for voice and piano by Austrian composer Franz Schubert and written by German poet Wilhelm Müller, is brought to the stage with the interpretation of the Modern Dance Ensemble Istanbul.
In the work, which tells of a dramatic journey that begins with the poet realizing that his lover has fallen in love with someone else; Deniz Özaydın, Evrim Akyay, Emre Karaca, Huri Murphy, İsmet Köroğlu, Mert Öztekin, and Tuğçe Göncü serve as choreographers. The libretto and direction of the work belong to Mert Öztekin.
CARMEN - ISTANBUL STATE OPERA AND BALLET

The 'Carmen' opera, to be staged by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, will meet the audience at the Atatürk Cultural Center Türk Telekom Opera Hall on April 3, 6, 13, and 18. One of the world's most famous operas, the work of French composer Georges Bizet, Carmen, was first staged in Paris in 1875.
In the Carmen opera, directed by Italian director Vincenzo Grisostomi Travaglini, the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Orchestra will be conducted alternately by İbrahim Yazıcı and Zdravko Lazarov. The set design of the work belongs to Zeki Sarayoğlu, costume design to Ayşegül Alev and Gizem Betil, choreography to Ayşem Sunal Savaşkurt, lighting design to Giovanni Pirandello, and dramaturgy to Ravivaddhana Monipong Sisowath. Set in the 1830s in the Spanish city of Seville, the story is shaped around the life of the young gypsy girl Carmen, the protagonist of the opera.

The 'Giselle' ballet, which has been watched with great interest at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall since the beginning of the season, will reunite with art lovers on April 4. 'Giselle', whose subject is taken from the Legend of the Wilis described by German poet Heinrich Heine in his book 'On Germany', is considered one of the most important works of ballet with the choreography of Jean Coralli-Jules Perrot-Marius Petipa set to the music of French composer Adolphe Adam (1803-1856).
The 'Giselle' ballet, which deals with rural life and the extraordinary world together, emphasizes the sublimity of love and the indispensability of passion, and is full of supernatural elements, tells the tragic and romantic story of a young and beautiful, yet shy peasant girl named Giselle who loves to dance, and Count Albrecht, who introduces himself to her as a farmer named 'Loys' and is madly in love with Giselle.

The play is about the resistance of a people struggling with hunger, poverty, and captivity on Anatolian lands. The play, which gives a message of unity and solidarity to the nation against those who intend to divide the homeland, is brought to the stage with a wide cast of characters ranging from Mustafa Kemal Pasha to Kazım Pasha, from the British Admiral to the Greek Nurse.

The play is about the adventure that begins with Hacivat asking Karagöz to clean a lamp, not knowing it is magic.
NIGEL KENNEDY - HEART AND SOUL

Nigel Kennedy, known as the owner of the world's best-selling classical music album, who entered the Guinness Book of Records with Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' album, will take the stage at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall on Sunday, April 7, at 21.00 with his 'Heart and Soul' concert. Kennedy, who is also a composer, violin virtuoso, orchestra conductor, and festival curator, gives concerts that make a splash by bringing together different musical genres.
In his Istanbul program, he will present popular pieces for violin and cello by Krzysztof Komeda and Ryuichi Sakamoto, as well as his own original compositions, in addition to Bach's works. Kennedy's cellist partner Beata Urbanek-Kalinowska will also be on stage at the concert. The concert, which will take place with the participation of only two musicians accompanied by the violin and cello representing the heart and soul, will offer the audience a unique musical experience.

Drawing its source from Anatolia's thousands of years of mythological and cultural history, Fire of Anatolia continues to meet art lovers at the AKM Türk Telekom Opera Hall with its original production containing 3000 folk dance figures and folk music compiled from different regions. The project, which bears the signature of Mustafa Erdoğan, aims to introduce the fire of Anatolia's thousands of years of cultural and historical mosaic, blended with peace, to the whole world.

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's immortal work 'The Time Regulation Institute', which oscillates between the poles of East and West, old and new, traditional and modern, will meet the audience at the Türk Telekom Opera Hall on April 11 as a contemporary adaptation where cinema and theater are intertwined, with an acting feast in which Serkan Keskin takes on dozens of guises and under the direction of Serdar Biliş.

'The Beatles and Cinderella Musical', written by Carlos Alberto -Tin- Cremata Malberti, will be staged at the AKM Theater Hall on Sunday, April 21. The story is told by four little mice living in the basement of Cinderella's house. The mice perform various children's stories in their own way with their group they call 'The Beatles'.
When they are attacked by the grumpy cat 'Carrier', they sing the song 'Help!', and when the postman Mr. Jude and Fairy Godmother Mary, who bring an invitation to Cinderella from the palace, arrive, they sing the legendary song 'Let it Be'. In this fun musical, the songs of the Liverpool Four are brought to life with the interpretation of Cuban children.
The cast includes names such as Sofía Alejandra Viñas Rodríguez, Abel Gutiérrez Febles, and Valeria Savchenko Soto.

William Shakespeare's classic work, blended with love, betrayal, friendship, and tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, will be staged this time by Turkish and Greek artists. In the international production directed by Lefteris Giovanidis, four artists and one lighting director from the State Theaters and one composer from the Presidential Symphony Orchestra will take part. The cast of 'Romeo and Juliet' includes names such as Roula Pateraki, Calliope Chaska, Alp Ünsal, Eray Eserol, Nikos Karathanos, Maria Diakopanagiotou, and Dimitris Charalampoboulos.
